ClimateWorks Australia will “contribute to substantial emissions reduction in the next five years through enabling collaborative action within Australia and the wider international context.”
ClimateWorks Australia will do this through:
Education
- By developing a shared understanding of Climate Change and the options for action.
- By developing a reputation as a trusted source of facts on climate change which are readily accessible to the community.
- By bringing together a wide range of experts to promote debate and consensus building.
Engagement
- By developing confidence and commitment to action.
- By engaging with government, business, philanthropy and the community to develop consensus and a commitment to specific actions that will reduce emissions and promote sustainability.
- By sharing best practice and good ideas to close the gap between intent and action.
- By developing a reputation that means ClimateWorks Australia is sought out by government, business, philanthropy and the community for expert advice and assistance.
Action
- By delivering substantial emissions reduction through informed and coordinated actions either directly or by stimulating action by others.
- By delivering action projects that:
- accelerate behavioural and structural change
- demonstrate or assist new technologies or behaviours
- demonstrate better policy options.
- By leveraging substantial emissions reductions by others by demonstrating opportunities and benefits and encouraging complimentary actions.
- By encouraging the wider community to move from isolated incremental responses (which have limited impact on emissions) to structural responses, (which have both substantial and sustainable impacts on emissions).
- By putting into operation the best available research.

- By implementing projects that are evidence based, properly monitored and evaluated, and adapted based on experience.
- By maintaining a reputation as a trusted and credible source of advice and information based on appropriate measuring and reporting of performance and activities.
